DESCRIPTION "Shell similar to, but generally rather smaller than, that of Disolenia quadrata. Two to four tubules, having a length 0.25-0.5 shell diameter. Species distinguished by 1 or 2 spines or a tooth on the outer aperture of each tubule. The spine is a single short solid projection, while the tooth is triangular in outline and bears a large triangular pore." (from Nigrini, 1967).

RECENT DISTRIBUTION
1. Nigrini, 1967, fig. 8; "Indian Ocean occurrences - O. auriculata is sparsely distributed in the eastern tropics, but increases in abundance (up to 7 percent of the described population) west of 75degE. The species is absent from middle latitude samples."
2. Molina-Cruz, 1975, Code S39A; counted together with O. polymorpha but too rare for use in factor analysis of southeast Pacific assemblages; cf Appendix 10 for percent S39A at each station.
